Second RFE on my Supplement J received on Jan. 22, 2018. Sent response to USCIS on April 6, 2018, they acknowledged receipt April 18, 2018.

The wait resumes.

Update on my case. Filed Supplement J + new medicals in December, and on January 22, I received a RFE on my Supplement J. Turns out USCIS can't use Google, and instead rely on an outdated D&B database for information on my employer. They couldn't find a record of my employer at the address stated, and so therefore required annual reports, marketing materials etc. (for a large, publicly-traded, international bank). RFE deadline is April 26, and so we delayed long enough for me to get married and get my wife on my application as well (she just went from a TN visa to a cap-exempt H-1B in March). RFE response was sent today, and I hope my journey is almost over...knowing full well we'll have to go through an interview whenever her turn comes up.

First supplement J request was for confirming bona fide job. They then sent a RFE on the supplement J itself, because they couldn't find my company online.

If you want to hear about real idiocy, consider my EAD/AP renewal last year: they approved both, sent the EAD card only, but claim they sent a combo card. USCIS is a train wreck right now.

Update on my second RFE, and I hope this is useful in case anyone receives the same request: they acknowledged my Supplement J, but said they could not find my employer listed at either of the two addresses included in my application. They checked the Dun & Bradstreet database, which leads me to two conclusions: the USCIS officer is an idiot, and the USCIS has not bothered checking Google, nor my major international bank employer's website. Ugh. As a result, they want more information on the company, such as:

- the employer's articles of incorporation, business license(s) or permits;
- recent annual reports, shareholder summaries, Federal tax returns, bank statements, or other such documentation verifying your employer's financial standing;
- letters from local governments, trade associations or other regulatory bodies naming the employer;
- business cards, brochurs, or advertisements for the employer;
- other such documentation indicative of a viable, ongoing business concern at the stated address

This is ridiculous. This is just another delay being introduced because USCIS is under orders to slow down immigration. Deadline for response is April 26.

They received my Supplement J on Dec. 14, and sent another RFE on it Jan. 22. MyUSPS says that the physical RFE letter will come today.

Update on my missing AP, and this one is something I have never seen before. I opened a SR on January 21. USCIS responded on Friday, claiming they sent me a combo card, but what I received was an EAD only (they even gave me a tracking number, which was the one for my EAD card). My lawyer is investigating.

That's terrible to hear. I was in limbo for six months waiting on my AP, all because we went away to Bermuda for 2.5 days! Got it in the end, approved Dec. 21...but haven't received a document in the mail yet. So frustrating. Good luck with your second application!

I live in New York City. I don't know why it would take a month. USCIS is terribly run, and inefficient.

You would have to ask an attorney for advice. From what I have seen on this forum, others have re-applied. It's a bad situation, my friend. You have every reason to think you can travel, and then they penalize you after the fact. Like I said, Nebraska applications were approved, despite travel. Texas ones were not.

Topic: AP I131 Denial

Texas has been denying APs this year, if one travelled outside the United States while the renewal application was being considered. Even if someone had a still-valid AP and/or they had valid means to leave and re-enter (H or L visa), it doesn't matter to Texas. Nebraska, no problem. Total inconsistency!

One has nothing to do with the other. The key is now not to travel overseas until either you get your green card, or get AP.

I'm so sorry that your case is still dragging on. Every time I log in, I hope to see good news from you. Please know that a lot of us on here are waiting to celebrate you getting greened!

From a couple other sources, I have found that if a second RFE is sent on the 485J specifically (when I check my status online, the I-485 itself hasn't changed, just Supplement J), it is because USCIS requires more information on the employer (financials, size, etc.). Given that I work for a large, publicly-traded bank, one would think this information is widely and easily available. Let's see if that is indeed the case. I don't expect it to show up until mid-Feb. at this rate.

So here's a weird one: I submitted my RFE for medicals and supplement J, and USCIS acknowledged receipt on December 14. Tonight, I got a text message, checked the website, and my supplement J status changed from "Fees Were Waived" to "Request for Initial Evidence was Mailed". I already sent them supplement J, signed by myself and my employer. Any idea what this could be for?

None of the old timelines apply. The posted processing times are fairly useless. Even straightforward renewals are taking forever. Even if you get approved for AP, like I was back in December, you may not get your document for over a month (like me). SRs lead nowhere. You can only sit, and wait, and get steamed.

Topic: I-131 Approval Notice not received

My lawyer asked me to report to them if I had not received the document by Friday, January 19. I told them I did not have it. They reached out to USCIS, and this was the useless response:

"We spoke with a USCIS customer service representative today and she informed us that we should allow an additional 2-3 weeks for receipt of the AP document. Please let us know if you do not receive the document within the next 3 weeks. We have set a reminder to follow up with USCIS at the 3 week mark."

I have opened a SR under the "I did not receive my document" category.
