Topic: OCI in lieu of PIO Card-Question

to sudh

this is in https://www.in.ckgs.us/pio/index.shtml

OCI in Lieu of PIO
All PIO cards are valid until September 30, 2018. AFTER September 30, 2018, PIO card will be considered as an invalid travel document. Therefore, all applicants, who have not yet converted their PIO cards to OCI card, are requested to apply for OCI in lieu of PIO before September 30, 2018.

Foreign nationals can travel with valid travel document i.e. Passport and PIO Card if the date of their journey commenced ON or BEFORE September 30, 2018.

Make sure you job description and SOC code are relevent to an specialty occupation. Else Specialty occupation queries are very common irrespective of PP or regular.

Everything needs to in order and even if there is a slight issue , RFE is for sure.

To add make sure your resume matches your job description. Provide as much details as possible, ultimately this has become a skill of articulating your documentation in the best possible way.

=========================
Sorry to hear about denial..i saw your post suggesting someone to provide extensive details in response of RFE.

did you provide all these details for yourself..Do you know what is the reason for denial..

Topic: Benefits for Indians(on visa) in US

I am listing some of the benefits/investment that Indians who are on visa can explore. These are really good benefits for individuals.
I know lot of people are already aware of these benefits but in my case I now think why i dint know these benefits few years ago.It can definitely save a lot of money.

It would be great to know what other benefits we can use to save/earn money so please add them here..

1) Employer 401k--per my understanding everyone must enroll for employer 401k.You contribute some % of your base salary and employer match it to 3-5%.

If you keep this money in 401k fund until your retirement then it is best investment.

however even if you are planing to go back to India, you should sign up for 401k..
It gives you employer match contribution and when you withdraw it anytime(even after 1 or 2 years).
it gives you your money and employer match after 10% fine(after regular tax deduction) so you always save money and you enjoy market gain if you invest 401K money wisely.

401k withdraw process is not complicated

2) FSA/HSA account-this is one more benefit to use pre-tax money to pay

a) Medical expense
b) Dependent care expense including your kid's day care fee if both parents are working
c) Any other ?

3) Most of employer in US sponsor for higher education. They reimburse full fees so if you are going to stay with a employer longer then you can explore this benefit

4) When you declare your W4 federal tax point then try to use maximum eligible points so that you can add a good amount in your b-weekly pay check and then you can invest that extra money
somewhere in market/pay your mortgage/transfer India and invest in RD/etc instead of claiming that money at the end of year while filling tax.

5)....

6)......
