Topic: JP Morgan and Green card sponsorship

Agreed

To Summarize:
As I know, JPMC is the worst among Financial companies. UBS, RBS, Goldman Sachs, DB, BoFA are all better than JPMC. If I have to choose between any other financial company and JPMC for GC purpose, I'd choose other financial company.
If you need to consider other factors such as Technology, Benefits, Compensation then it becomes a more complicated decision.

NOTE: Individual experience in company may differ. But if you ask 10 people, 7-8 would have a negative immigration experience in JPMC.

JPMC does not have a company wide GC policy and depends on the LOB you are in.
There is a disconnect between hiring H1B and applying for GC.
If allowed, hiring an H1B is decision made by your manager, 2nd level manager and rarely 3rd level manager. But for every GC, you need approval from person who is almost like an LOB head. If they say no, your manager is helpless.
Main factors JPMC considers are
1. LOB you belong to (IB, Compliance, Retail, etc) - For e.g. if you get into already well established group like IB, there are already thousands of people on H1B and the leadership doesn't want to pursue GC as there is quite an amount of money is involved and they treat tech employees as resource who knows this and that technology. While, if you join a new and growing group, almost all of them will get their GC processing done.
2. Your worth to the Project/Manager - Are you a critical resource? What would be the loss if you leave? If the loss isn't much then forget GC.

One more thing to note is, JPMC isn't great with DHS/USCIS either. Their H1B cases go through fine, but their PERM/I-140 gets audited frequently.

Topic: Approximate duration to get SSN after H4 EAD

We applied for SSN, 2 weeks after H4 EAD approval. I heard, for some it is taking nearly 2 months.
Would like to get opinion of people who received SSN recently

Topic: H4 EAD card USPS delivery issue. Need inputs

We faced similar issue few days ago regarding EAD delivery. Status says delivered to Front Desk (in apt building), but front desk was saying they didn't receive it.
We followed below steps, hope it helps you
1. Checked the place where Front desk keeps all couriers - (Letter not found)
2. We visited local post office from where it was delivered and enquired them. - (They told its already delivered). They gave their phone number and asked to check with them again if it was not found. We did follow up with them few times on phone.
3. Called USPS customer care and checked for status - (They said its delivered too). Registered case/complaint with them. Takes 2 days to get response.
4. Next, we were planning to ask Mail delivery person who delivers mail on that day and also to request him to check others mail boxes incase if it was wrongly kept in different mailbox.

Luckily, we got it from Front Desk. It was kept in a different mailbox and the person owning mailbox saw and gave it to front desk.

Topic: H1B to Greencard - ETA

Hey AD,
I'm also in similar boat. I chose the second option of waiting for H4-EAD.
Just FYI. I don't think EB-2 or EB-3 matters in your case, to get to the point of H4-EAD. Both take same time.

There are multiple factors to consider here
1. Time taken to apply for Labor depends on your employer (Some take 3 months, some take > 9 months) - you'll have to confirm that with your employer
2. On an average Labor approval is taking (5-6) months after you apply + 1-2 months to file and get I140 approved in premium + 2-3 months for H4-EAD. On an average, after applying for labor, it takes 10-12 months to get H4 EAD (If no Audit)

Advantage with H4 EAD
Flexibility of Job - Can do any job at any $/hr rate
If you don't have job for few months, you don't have to worry (In H1B with consultancies, employer has to run payroll and you owe tax)

Advantage with H1B
If you plan to become entrepreneur, or on the flip side, something terrible happens, you can go on H4.
