One of my sweet asshole desi neighbor called the cops and was jumping around to showcase his atrocity. And when he was summoned later by court he was all behaving like a wet cat..

We parked at 270 Mulberry street and for 4 hours it was $18. On road parking, 3-4 minutes walking distance to the building.

DUI wasn't big issue in my case as the incident happened right in front of my apartment, while parking the car I hit the tree. No human/animal injuries involved. Officers came took me to station, did breath analyzer test and then handed me over tickets. They didn't keep me in jail for 12 hrs according to the norm (they let me go in 20-30 minutes). The main reason to keep me for that much amount of time was - they wanted to see if I vomit, belch etc. which I didn't, otherwise they would have locked me up for whole night which would definitely had a negative impact on the case.
And I did IDRC classes, restored my suspended license, did all the right paperwork etc. All of that was there in the file so IO said he has everything and this is the only case so it's fine, I can understand things happen.
Its always better to spend $100 on cab/uber rather than going through this mental trauma !!

We took someone from Fragomen (who was also a known face at that USCIS office). The overall cost was $2k (including consultation).

Finally Got our GC yesterday!! It was hell lot of a ride but thankfully its over now.
Goodluck everyone !!

Also, those who didn't hear anything please wait. Don't raise SR, you can only raise SR after 120 days. Normally the trend we are seeing is approvals are coming in 2 days to 4 weeks.

Thanks !!
I marked "yes" on 485 form for the arrest and I provided all copies of court disposition order, arrest report, idrc class copies etc. at the time of file submission itself. So, IO was just looking for certified copies from me.

Topic: Newark, NJ Field Office Interview Status

Sorry folks, took some time to publish my case as I was keeping my fingers crossed because of DUI case that I had (I hate that night!! No one was hurt, it was just I banged the car against a tree).
But I'm very Thankful to God for being kind with me.

On Jan 23rd, we got our interview done at Newark office and now feeling that I’m off the pressure hook.

Here is the brief summary of the same:

We reached there at 8:30 am and waited in line to pass through the security checks which took approximately 20 minutes. After that we went to 14th floor of the building where our attorney’s paralegal/assistant was waiting and he made us checked-in at the counter.
Our interview was at 9:15 am and 10:15 am but we were finally called in at 10:40 pm.
The IO took me in first (since we had our 3 year old kid with me so he asked my wife to wait outside).
After the oath was done. IO asked me the originals and copies of –
1. W2 recent one (but when he saw I have W2/Tax Returns/IRS transcripts of last 3-4 years he told me to just hand it over to him and he’ll place it in the file, he didn’t even look into those).
2. Original Birth Certificate of our son and copy.
3. Original EAD and copy of it.
4. Original DL and copy of it.
5. Employment Verification Letter.

Then he went over 485 form and asked which company I work for and do you wish to work for the same. NO further question was asked on my role/responsibilities not even about the work company does.
The questions asked were –
1. DOB
2. When was the last time you entered US?
3. What’s your son name?
4. Then he verified the visa (which was already expired) in his system.
5. IO said - So, you were arrested for DUI case and I do have all the paperwork with me. Just hand over the certified copies of court disposition order. I did the same. NO further documents were asked on this topic and NOT even a single question was asked like what happened, when, where, how etc. Also, asked any other incident that you had to which I said NO. My attorney was explaining it to IO that its not CIMT and just a minor incident, paid fines etc. to which IO said I know everything and can tell from face where the issues can be. And then they started talking about the rainy day and what they did over the weekend.
6. Went over few random Yes/No questions from 485 form (IO said - don't feel offended by the questions that I'll ask you but as we are recording so we need to go over it).

Then he said, I don’t see a problem with your case and asked me to send the wife in where my attorney assisted her through the locked doors to be in.

The good part was I had all the copies of the original documents with me so IO was kind of happy with it. I didn't have a copy of DL so he said "Finally Gotcha !! You didn't make a copy of this one, but no worries I'll make a copy. At least let me do something :-)".

The questions asked from my wife were:
1. Address of your stay? And how long have you been in US and at this address?
2. When did you guys get married? How did you meet?
3. How long have you been staying at this address?
4. Asked for original birth certificates and what we had was govt e-verified online downloadable copy of it. So,my attorney explained what it is, to IO, as it had barcode on it.
5. Asked for original marriage certificate and at that point she wasn’t able to find it in the folder. So, IO said not to worry I’ll come outside and so ask your husband to take it out from the folder (and he took marriage certificate copy from her). I handed over the original to my attorney and he explained it to IO when he came outside. IO said - an english version of the marriage certificate to which we said, yes India was occupied by British culture so you can go to admin office and ask for the certificate to be done in english or native language :-)
6. Where does your husband work, pay and title?

The overall interview was over by 11:10 am (approx 25-30 minutes for both).

Finally, IO told my wife that you should get a decision notice in 8-10 days.
And today we got physical approval notices in mail !!! Expecting the cards to be done soon.

Thanks to everyone for the help on the forum and I wish all the very best to all of you guys !! :-)

Did IO mention that you should receive a decision notice in next few days? Just wait for couple of weeks and I hope that you would see status update :)
These days, they are taking from 30 - 120 days before releasing any update on the case. After 120 days window you are eligible to file SR but not before that.

I just google'd it and its pretty long walk (12-15 minutes) !! Also, looking at what people are reporting it can take up to 3-4 hours to get done with the interviews including delays etc.

Someone earlier posted on the forum mentioned that you can park at 270 Mulberry Street, Newark, NJ. It's just 5 minutes walk from there to the building. For 3-4 hrs it'll cost you around $20 which is worth given that it's an open parking on the road itself.
Also, they go over random questions and not all.
